Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ)
5.94 IEQ Satisfaction Score for Classrooms
This score indicates the users’ mean satisfaction with the indoor environmental quality in the building’s primary spaces. It is expressed on a Likert-type scale from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 7 (very satisfied). The score is derived from the results of the Sustainable Post-Occupancy Evaluation Survey (SPOES) by averaging the score from each of the IEQ categories in order to fairly represent overall satisfaction with the physical environment.
IEQ Categories for Classrooms
The table below shows the mean satisfaction score for each IEQ category.

Overall Facility Ratings by Students
This graph shows the users’ ratings (as means and standard deviations) of the overall facility, including the site, building, and interior. The values indicate user satisfaction, perception of their performance, and perception of their health in relation to the facility. They are expressed on a Likert-type scale from 1 (facility hinders satisfaction/performance/health) to 7 (facility enhances satisfaction/performance/health).

Primary Occupied Spaces
Space% Total Person Hours% Area
The Academic Partnership Center is comprised of classrooms, laboratories, faculty offices, and student common areas. With the highest percentage of both occupancy (in person hours) and area, classrooms are the dominant spaces used in this building. The indoor environmental quality of the classrooms and the offices was evaluated through separate surveys; students evaluated the IEQ of the classrooms and employees evaluated the IEQ of office workspaces. Since classrooms are the dominant space type, the results shown in this case study reflect responses from the student survey only. Additionally, two sets of evaluations have been completed for this building, one in 2014 and one in 2015. This page shows the most recent results. The complete set of reports is available in the “Reports” section.
The Sustainable Post-Occupancy Evaluation Survey (SPOES) is a self-administered, Internet-based questionnaire developed to assess human outcomes in indoor settings. The survey was completed by the user group of the primary space and analyzed by the B3 Post-Occupancy Evaluation team. The SPOES reports document user satisfaction with the physical environment as related to various indoor environment quality criteria, such as lighting, thermal, and acoustic conditions.

See the B3 Post-Occupancy Evaluation website for more information.
