This score indicates the users’ mean satisfaction with the indoor environmental quality in the building’s primary spaces. It is expressed on a Likert-type scale from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 7 (very satisfied). The score is derived from the results of the Sustainable Post-Occupancy Evaluation Survey (SPOES) by averaging the score from each of the IEQ categories in order to fairly represent overall satisfaction with the physical environment.

The values indicate user satisfaction, perception of their performance, and perception of their health in relation to the facility. They are expressed on a Likert-type scale from 1 (facility hinders satisfaction/performance/health) to 7 (facility enhances satisfaction/performance/health).

The Saint Anthony Falls Laboratory is comprised of an atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel, offices and administration space, and a gated water intake system that captures and releases portions of the water flow from the adjacent Mississippi River. The satisfaction of the laboratory's employees was evaluated through a survey that focused on the indoor environmental quality of the primary workspaces. The primary workspaces in this building include private offices, shared offices, workstations, desks in an open office, and work areas in laboratory spaces. The Sustainable Post-Occupancy Evaluation Survey (SPOES) is a self-administered, Internet-based questionnaire developed to assess human outcomes in indoor settings. The survey was completed by the user group of the primary space and analyzed by the B3 Post-Occupancy Evaluation team. The SPOES reports document user satisfaction with the physical environment as related to various indoor environment quality criteria, such as lighting, thermal, and acoustic conditions.
